Free Calling to Arrive in October

Lightyear has announced lot of amazing changes coming in October. One of the most exciting ones is free calling within the network. That means that anyone can call another subscriber in the network for free and it will not take long distance charges etc.

You migth say OK, how broad is that network? The network includes not only Lightyear customers, but its partner company Verizon! That comes out to 71 subscribers. In addition, it will include the 13 million AllTel customers that Verizon will acquire later this year when the acquisition gets its final seal of approval. So that means 84 million subscribers can take advantage of this terrific service. This just gives one more reason for people to switch to the Lightyear wireless network for their cellular service. This is yet one more value added service for MyWirelessRep that puts them a cut above everyone else.

Single Product Companies

One of the issues with some network marketing companies is their product offerings. Or I should say ‘offering’ as oftentimes there is just one product for sale. This is particularly common for juice MLM’s but not really limited to them. Single product network marketing companies have the obvious problem of the “all eggs in one basket” syndrome. If something happens to that product (such as the FDA or FTC comes down hard on it), then the whole business goes away. I have seen this happen with single product network marketing companies before.

Another issue with single product companies, is what happens if the prospective customer just doesn’t want that product? Too bad — there’s nothing else to offer them! Or what happens if they do buy the product and you want to upsell them? Some single product companies have upsells that include caselots with reduced shipping and things like that, but basically in those companies we are stuck with one thing.

That is one of the things that attracted me to MyWireLessRep. No single product issues here! Not only does it offer an amazing variety of wireless phones and plan combinations, but the reps have access to sell Lightyear’s other products as well. These include VOIP, satellite dish service, DirecTV, broadband services, local / long distance plans, and home security plans. WOW … plenty of upselling opportunity there isn’t it?

MyWirelessRep now Has Competitive Phones

One issue that has been raised, is that the phones themselves in the MyWirelessRep plans were expensive. That has proven to not be the case however, since additional rebate options have recently been introduced.

For example the Blackberry World will be $199.99(USD) after creditworthy establishment rebates. At AllTel, that same phone is only rebated down to $249.99. Also take the Blackberry Curve for another example. It will be discounted down to $149.99 with creditworthy establishment. AllTel is only discounted to $229.99 after rebates.

This is not to say that MyWirelessRep has the cheapest phones around, but it’s important to note that they are competitive with other big league companies selling phones and wireless plans. This really makes for a viable home business in case you are thinking there is no value proposition with MyWirelessRep. Competitive phones + competitive phone plans = level playing field for you and your home based wireless business!

Getting Paid on other People’s Phone Bills

What a concept hm? Up until now, the only ones who got paid from phone bills were the telecommunication companies themselves. However, MyWirelessRep lets you earn money off other people’s phone bills. How is that possible?

It works at two levels. If you are a MyWirelessRep rep, you can sell wireless service plans directly to customers. When that happens, you get paid a percentage of their phone bill! You can also enroll other people as MyWirelessRep representatives. Then you get paid a percentage of their customer’s phone bills. That’s just one of the many ways that a person can earn money as a MyWirelessRep rep. But the concept of being able to get a ‘cut’ from other people’s phone bills is attractive to anyone looking make some extra income. And for the most part, you customers are all around you so there’s almost no limit to them!

Voice over IP for International Calling

So far, I’ve talked about MyWirelessRep in terms of wireless cell phone plans and packages. Indeed the name MyWirelessRep implies specialty in wireless services. While wireless service packages are the flagship products of MyWirelessRep did you know that the company (via the parent company Lightyear) provides a lot of other products and services including Voice over IP (VOIP)?

VOIP for those of you who don’t understand it (and I’m not sure I totally understand it either) that just means you use your phone via the Internet versus a phone line or a cellular service. You dial and receive calls using your computer.

There are several advantages to VOIP. The biggest advantage is the cost savings in long distance charges; particularly in making international calls. If you’ve ever tried to make a call to another country with your cell phone OR you’ve traveled abroad and used your cell phone to call home, you likely got a very rude surprise when you got your wireless bill. Using wireless services for making international calls depending on the country, results in hugely inflated phone bills – sometimes as much as 5 dollars per minute!

The cost of calling internationally via a VOIP service is usually limited to the cost of the internet connection making it a very smart choice for international calling. Lightyear’s VOIP uses the Xstream system, a commercial grade VOIP router. Furthermore, Lightyear’s VOIP infrastructure is a QOS (Quality of Service) infrastructure. What that is means that you get a higher level of quality on your calls than you would with a low grade service such as Skype (where dropped and ‘crackling’ calls are common).

MyWirelessRep also has a “Virtual VOIP” card that you can purchase. This is a pre paid VOIP card that lets you use your existing phone to call a VOIP service and it then routes your calls over a VOIP service. This also gives you the advantage of low per minute usage. For example, if you wanted to call France from the U.S with this VOIP card service, it would be 2 cents per minute. This option is great for short term international calling needs.

So don’t forget about MyWireLessRep’s other telecommunication services in their home based business model. It’s not just about cell phones!

Recession Proof Home Based Business?

We’re hearing a lot of negative economic talk coming out of the news these days. Recession is the buzz word. How do you guard against the effects of a recession? Is there actually any such thing as a recession proof home based business? I think nearly every business is going to feel the pinch of economic pressures. But I like the term “recession resistant” better.

There are businesses that fare better than others during downtimes. These would be businesses that sell necessary products or services. In terms of a home based business, one thing to be considered is the relative necessity of the product or service. Another thing to consider is residual income.

What could be more necessary than cell phones and cell phone plans? Food maybe, but I mean who can do without their cell phone these days? MyWirelessRep provides a home based business that deals in this necessary item – and sells competitive cell phone plans allowing you to compete on the same playing field as the large cell phone providers.

In addition, there is a residual component to the MyWireLessRep business that keeps paying as long as your customer keeps their cell phone plan. Residual income like this is important because during economic downtimes, you may be getting fewer new orders and fewer new people joining your organization. Residual income continuing to stream in from past customers can really help out during these times.

Recession proof? Maybe not, but definitely recession resistant.

Job Market Versus Home Based Business

Unless you’ve been hiding under rock for the past year, you read a lot of economic ‘gloom and doom’ in the news. While the current set of problems are certainly unique, the normal cycles of economics include both growth and contraction (recession). That’s been going on for a quite a long time and the current recession probably won’t be the last one.

The problem I’m seeing over the past 10 years is that the last period of growth didn’t really include a lot of prosperity for job seekers. The growth in the job market was mostly in low paying service jobs and the high paying jobs continued to dry up.  I think this trend will continue on as companies look for ways to be more efficient and run their businesses in the most cost effective manner.

One group of people that became prosperous in the last period of growth were people who built their own business. This is why there is so much interest in home based businesses now. I think a lot of people are waking up to the fact that good paying jobs are becoming scarcer and more difficult to compete for.

I gave up competing in the job market around 2004 because it felt like I was spinning my wheels. Schooled and trained in Information Technologies, I grew tired of having to always chase after the latest and greatest technical certification in order to stay current. I got tired of having to go out on endless interviews that never went anywhere. Talk about time consuming! That’s about the time I decided to pursue my home based business. I mean after all, if you’re going to compete for something, it may as well be building your own business against your competitors. That sort of competition pays off!

How People will shop for Phones Now

Posted September 23rd, 2008 by Ross and filed in MyWireLessRep

MyWirelessRep.Com is changing the way people buy cell phone plans. The way it used to be (or mostly still is) is that the shopper has to go to a Verizon, AT&T, or other wireless provider store and select a phone plan. Then they get the spiel from the sale reps and likely to get bombarded with upsells. OR, the shopper could shop online at a site like AT&T with its confusing array of choices and plans in hard to read fine print.

Customer will love shopping at MyWirelessRep where they will find a competitive selection of plans (from 34.99 per month to 99.99 per month) and a spectrum of phones. All in nice easy to understand plans. With the added bonus of cash back on their phone bill! No standard phone company can do that!

Everything is rolled into a step by step process that guides the customer through the process. Unlike other online phone stores, your customers will not feel overwhelmed by the choices!

Cell Phones Now Blamed for Train Wrecks?

Posted September 21st, 2008 by Ross and filed in General

The engineer in last week’s LA commuter train crash was allegedly texting whilst driving the train. The cause of the crash was engineer error but the media is leaning on the cell phone as though it were the cause. And in Sacramento, another light rail train operator is in hot water after she killed a worker whilst allegedly talking on her cell phone.

Cell phones don’t kill but improper use of them does. Not surprisingly, the transit companies have rules in place that forbid the use of them by operators. Most work places in fact have such rules, places you might not even think of. For example, retail stores. Most retail store workers are required to leave their cell phone at home or in their locker and usually are only allowed to use them on their break times. After all, who wants to be shopping and ask a sales representative to help you only to have her cell phone interrupt the conversation? Transit operators have an even stronger impetus for not using their cell phone while operating a transit vehicle – they are responsible for their passenger’s lives.

If you work for a company realize that they have these rules in place for a reason and use the cell phone only on free time. Common sense says so!
