iPhone Not a Dominant Phone

Hardly a week goes by where we don’t hear or read something about the Apple iPhone. It leads us to believe that iPhone is the dominant player in the cell phone market. But guess what? It’s still dwarfed by the Blackberry smart phones. According to this source, 5.4 million people bought Blackberry smart phones in the first quarter of 2008 versus 1.7 who bought iPhones in the same period.

One of my concerns when I joined MyWirelessRep frankly, was completing against the iPhone. But this statistic brought that into perspective for me and reminded me once again that marketing fanfare takes a back seat to consumer realities. MyWirelessRep offers Blackberry smart phones with competitive plan pricing so there is a large market there. Aside from that, consider the market of people who buy neither Blackberry phones or iPhones and you have an even larger market.
