Consistency meets Uncertainty
People work at a job because, we as humans like consistency. I believe we are drawn to it and take comfort in it. That 8 to 5 job (or whatever the hours are) relives us of any concern of where we will go today (if today is a work day). And there is also consistency in the pay; people with jobs typically get paid twice per month, once per month, or some similar schedule. People love that consistency. And one of the things people don’t like about the idea of a home based business is the possible inconsistency - especially in the area of income.
But here’s the rub. Jobs nowadays as everyone is painfully aware may offer some degree of consistency but they’re fraught with uncertainty. Companies large and small are always coming up with ways to shrink staff; particularly the positions that pay well. So if you are fortunate enough to have a good paying job, you may have consistency but you may also have a lot of uncertainty.
Now there’s a great deal of uncertainty in a home based business as well. But the big difference is that in a home based business, you have control over many of the factors relating to the uncertainty. In a job working for someone else, you do not. So which will it be? What is your flavor of uncertainty?
