You can’t be Fired from Your Own Business

The job market is not improving despite some brief reports that unemployment claims are down. There is nothing in the news that points to a job market recovery in 2009. If you have still have a job, you might consider yourself “lucky” but how long will it last? There are very few jobs that offer “immunity idols” (yes I swiped that concept from Survivor) against getting laid off.

The reason for this is simple. When sales and profits are down, the principles in any business begin to look at things they can get rid of. What seemed like a necessary position last year, may be a prime candidate for dismissal. One of the largest overhead items for any company is its payroll expense and this is the first place they look to chop dollars. One person who recently joined MyWirelessRep tells me he feels he did so just in time. His employer didn’t fire him, but gave him a 10% pay cut! Fortunately, this rep has been steadily building a business and easily has a buffer to cover that 10%. But he’s not satisfied with that. He will keep building until he can tell his boss what to do with that job including the pay cut! Despite it being a bad job market, it’s a good time to have a home based business from which you cannot be fired!

Enrollment Fee

The MyWirelessRep offer is scheduled to end on 12/31/08. That’s the $49.99 enrollment fee. I shot my mouth early last month and they ended up extending it for another month. It was only supposed to last throughout the month of November. For the record: I paid $399.95 for the enrollment fee. You might wonder if I’m resentful of that, but no. I got what I paid for and have easily made the money back now. Furthermore, I wouldn’t trade it in. Now who’s to say they won’t extend it again, but at some point they will likely pull the plug on the $49.99 enrollment charge. So if you’re considering a home based business, here is one that’s inexpensive to operate and inexpensive to start up. Where else can you start a business for $49.99?

Time is Right for Home Based Business

A while back I blogged about the importance of having a Plan B. Plan B as in what happens if my primary source of income drops off? This is becoming increasingly more important as jobs get fewer and fewer. A lot of people I talk to say they don’t think they can operate a home based business because the economy is so bad. That’s a glass half full or half empty thing. The reality is actually the opposite of what you might think if you are looking at the empty half. Now the is best time to get involved in a home based business because a lot of people are looking for answers to their Plan B question right now.

There were always be a large portion of people who will never consider a home based business. But as jobs get scarcer and pay scales become more eroded, many people will start to think about starting a home based business. They know they will need an alternative to the endless cycle of searching for a job, being hired, and the only to be laid off at some future point. This is your market if you join a business like MyWirelessRep. How will you reach that market? Well if you join under me, you will access to a team of experts who understand internet marketing and will be able to use little known techniques among network marketing people.

Layoffs, Gambling, and News

I know that many occupations in life are a gamble, but today I read that the casinos in Atlantic City have had large layoffs for routine casino staff. One might think the gambling industry would be a pretty safe industry to work in as far as job security, but it seems to be subject to the same business pressures as any other business. In the case of Atlantic City, it’s not the only gambling stop in the Greater NY vicinity as it once was and that has contributed to its demise.

I don’t bring this up to underscore the layoff situation. Instead I want to point out that this is representative of the mainstream media and their incessant love affair with bad news. Bad news sells and they can’t dish up enough of it. I’m not sure why people like reading bad news; there must be some deep psychology going on there or else the news outlets wouldn’t focus so much on it. As for me, I see such layoffs opportunities since those people might be interested in starting a home based business such as MyWirelessRep. At least some of the folks getting laid off must be thinking: I’m getting tired of this, I want some time different, I want to be own boss for a change. Those are the people I would love to speak with.

Two Kinds of Freedom

There are several types of freedoms that people seek after. But two of the most sought after freedoms are Financial Freedom and Time Freedom. Financial Freedom doesn’t necessarily mean wealth, but refers to basically not having to worry about money issues now and into the future. Time Freedom means that you have enough time to do pretty much what you want.

There are very few occupations and/or businesses that offer both. If you look at top earning executives, like 7 figure CEOs, they will have financial freedom, but I can guarantee you they don’t have time freedom. Executives like that have round the calendar commitments they must keep. Or take a look at the homeless person on the street. He has time freedom - plenty of time to do as he pleases and no one telling him where he has to be - but certainly does not have financial freedom. Those are opposite ends of two extremes, but most people find themselves in between somewhere.

Say for example you have a job. You are likely to have money coming in every two weeks or whatever, but most jobs do not offer financial freedom. You are also likely to have paid time off - maybe two or three weeks vacation each year. During those short periods, you might have mock temporary time freedom, but it goes away the moment you go back to work. And the rest of the year, you must adhere to someone else’s schedule.

One of the few businesses that offers a shot at both freedoms is the network marketing industry. Such freedoms may take a number of years to achieve. But if you work at a business like MyWirelessRep, you can enjoy both freedoms down the road. See you there!

The Biggest Reason for Failure

You’ve heard the term “winners never quit and quitters never win”?  It’s a common saying, but have you ever stopped to think about what it really means? A “statistic” that is often kicked around about home based businesses is that 97 percent of them fail.  I have never been able to find any adequate source for that statistic, but I sure see and hear it quoted often enough. Let’s say it’s reasonably accurate for a minute and forget about the reliability of the statistic.  Why do you suppose that many people would start something and then fail?

I think there’s lots of reasons behind home business failure, but the biggest one of all is that people give up.  They quit.  They throw up their hands and say outta here. And therein lies the wisdom of the second part of that quote. You can’t win or be successful at a home based business if you quit. There are lots of reasons for quitting but the number one reason involves lack of patience.  That is, people don’t give their efforts enough time to bear fruit. People become disappointed and disillusioned when their home based business doesn’t produce a sizable income in 30 days.  Success takes time, persistence, and patience. If you can give it those 3 things - along with some nurturing - the path will ultimately lead you to success and a WIN.

Making Money Versus Saving Money

With the current ‘economic crisis’ everyone it seems is interested in saving money. This is evidenced by a recent report that showed November as being one of the worst months for sales in recent history (compared to prior Novembers). This is good evidence of people just hanging on to their money and not buying what they don’t need. And there is good reason for this. It’s not just out of fear, but it’s out of the need to plan accordingly. Also prices in some areas have remained high. Many food prices that went up over the summer due to fuel prices have not fallen back down accordingly with the now lower fuel prices. So people have to hang to more dollars to make ends meet, particularly those with a family.

But how far can you cut expenses? How much can you really cut back? How low can you go? At some point when you start to cut back on things that shape your lifestyle, you are cutting back on the quality of your life. Wouldn’t it be better to take in a few hundred extra dollars per month than to have to save that amount each month? For that matter, why not make more than a few hundred!  But instead of scraping and saving, why not try earning more with a low cost home based business that’s easy to build and operate like MyWirelessRep.

Lotto Versus Home Business

Recently I spoke with someone about home business opportunities and we had a very interesting discussion about the Lottery. Here it’s the Washington State Lottery. This individual thought the chances of getting success in a home bases business was about the same as playing the lottery. That of course, was a notion I vehemently disagreed with.

Let’s compare the lotto to running a MyWirelessRep home business which costs $49.99 per month to run. Say that we compare that to buying $49.99 worth of lotto tickets every month. Yes, you might win one of the lotto’s larger prizes, but everything is left up to chance. You can try to tell me that the more months go by that you pay $49.99 into the lotto system, the more your chances increase. I might go along with that, but let’s ask the tens of thousands of regular lotto players that never win a large jackpot how they feel about that.

If we took that same $49.99 each  month and instead of buying lotto tickets, put it into a MyWirelessRep home business, would that guarantee a big prize either? Not really, but the big difference is the MyWirelessRep is effort based and the lotto is chance based. The more you work a home based business (whether it be MyWirelessRep or some other business), the more success you will have. It’s that simple. You may have failures along the way, but there is a prize of success waiting for anyone who is willing to put in the time and effort that goes along with the business.

The person I spoke has not yet signed up for the business although I gave him that thought to leave with. For the record, we did estimate he is spending at least $50 per month on tickets. What about you? Are you looking for a chance driven lifestyle or an effort driven lifestyle? Would you spend $50 on the lotto or on building your home based business?

Constant Negative News

I heard that as an acronym for CNN the other day: CNN = Constant Negative News. How true! But it’s not just CNN, it’s the entire news media focusing on the gloom and doom of the economy. And why not? From their perspective, it sells news. And bad news sells. But here’s the rub. The more your expose yourself to that bad news, the more it sinks in and the more you will tend to think gloom and doom. The much ballyhooed Law of Attraction states that you get more of what you focus on. So if you focus on the gloom and doom of the economy, guess what? You’ll get more of it.

On the other hand, if you focus on building a home based business like MyWirelessRep, you’ll get a good solid business. For most people that’s a positive thing to focus on. What about you?

Do You Have a Plan B?

We got more bad news from the pulse on the economy this past week. There were half a million jobs lost in November alone in the U.S. That has everyone spooked and concerned. Even people who are still working. If you are still working, do you have a plan B? That is, do you have a plan in place in case you lose your job? For a lot of people, Plan B means collect unemployment and try to find another job. If that is your mindset, then best of luck. But there are others who are getting tired of the worrying about losing jobs, or finding a job only to have worry about losing the job all over again. A vicious cycle. Those are the people who might be looking at starting a home based business.

I will be perfectly honest with you here. It’s difficult to start a home based business when you are in desperate need of money. For example, if you have just been laid off and have no cash reserves, a home based business will not provide income for you right away. However, if you are working and would like to start a business part time while you are still working, that’s another matter. Or if you have been laid off and have some cash reserves, you will be able to have income while you are building a business. A viable “Plan B” if you are still working. And if you are in either position, you will want a home based business that doesn’t have huge monthly fees to pay that drain your funds. You will want a home based business that is inexpensive to operate, like MyWirelessRep which is only $49.95 to join (if you join before December 31, 2008) and only $49.95 per month to maintain. So what about that Plan B?
