Wireless Voice and Data Demands its Portion of the Spectrum

As though anyone was unsure of the increasing role of wireless voice and data today, just consider this. The recent FCC Broadband Plan plans to free up about 300Mhz from the spectrum to use exclusively as wireless broadband. Almost half of this bandwidth will come from reserves for broadcast television. This tells us something most of us already knew.

First, the role of broadcast television is decreasing. This part of the entertainment industry has been in decline for at least two decades as digital service from cable and satellite providers have taken over. The recent digital conversion freed up a lot of unused bandwidth in the spectrum.

Second, this shows the that the role of hand held wireless devices is rapidly gaining in as common appliances. We have come to depend on them for things far beyond just making and taking phone calls. I use mine in the morning to browse the news where I used to fire up the computer to do that. Now I can scan the news while eating breakfast in the morning.

This bandwidth grab will be good for the wireless market and will help it grow into its rightful place.

What is an MVNO?

In conversations about Lightyear Wireless, you will often hear the term MVNO. MVNO stands for “mobile virtual network operator”. MNVO simply refers to the business model of companies like Lightyear Wireless. MNVO’s provide mobile phone services, but don’t have their own licensed band of the frequency spectrum. In addition, they usually don’t have the infrastructure to provide direct mobile phone and data services.

This is not a new approach to a business model. It was done in the days of wired phone service too. Those were called “switchless resellers”. An example of one would have been Excel Communications.

In the case of Lightyear Wireless, there are partnerships in place with both Sprint and Verizon. These partnerships allow all parties to work their businesses in the most efficient manner. The MNVO (Lightyear Wireless) can operate free of the constraints of having to manage infrastructure. The phone companies in turn can manage infrastructure with the constraints of selling phone service. Verizon does maintain retail stores however, there are persistent rumors that they might be winding down their retail operations or at least stop growing in that direction.

While this is an aspect of the company that doesn’t really involve the day to day selling of we Lightyear agents, it is good information to know and understand what an MVNO is and be educated about Lightyear’s role in the wireless marketplace.

AT&T versus Verizon

I have been amused by the war going on between AT&T and Verizon over features. Just turn on cable for an hour or two and what the commercial attacks fly. Verizon ’started it’ so to speak by picking on AT&T’s coverage map. AT&T’s coverage is indeed scant looking when you compare it to Verizon’s.  AT&T tried to cover this up by suing Verizon over map the map image. This didn’t work so AT&T took to the marketing room to create commercials slamming Verizon for various other things.  In this case, AT&T appears to be acting like the sore loser.

In reality both carriers have decent coverage as long as you live in a major metro area. Once you start to get outside of that, it’s a different story. And in spite of Verizon’s exceptionally large coverage area, there are spots where they don’t offer coverage. And even more so with AT&T.  When it gets right down to it, it’s the stability of the coverage that matters most.  Lightyear Wireless uses Verizon backbone for their standard plans and the Sprint backbone for their prepaid plans so you will almost always get covered.

Drinks and Home Business - It’s all about Choice!

I was in the grocery store the other day and couldn’t help but ponder on the drinks aisle. Only 20 years ago, there was no drink aisle. It was maybe a quarter of one side of an aisle that offered very few choices - Coke, Pepsi, and maybe a few others. Now look at the aisle! In just about any grocery store you go into, the drinks aisle is an aisle of its own. And often it takes up both sides. What has changed and what does this have to do with Lightyear Wireless?

Well it’s all about choice isn’t it? With the introduction of energy drinks, healthy drinks, exotic juice drinks, the drink industry is suddenly alive with a multitude of choices that didn’t exist 20 or even 10 years ago. The same has happened with home business opportunities.

20 years ago, if you wanted to start your own home based business, you had limited choices. Probably Amway, HerbaLife and maybe a few others. And then you wouldn’t have even had the technology to use to market those businesses - you would have had to do it the old “door to door” way.

There is no home based business opportunity aisle in the store. But there are an even bigger plethora of choices. So many that sometimes it’s overwhelming! There are so many choices that I see some people (including people in my own Lightyear Wireless organization) hop from one thing to the next big thing. Not me, I am staying put.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by the choice, download my free book below to help you sort out and sift through those choices. It’s not about how to start a cell phone business; it just keeps it general. Although I am admittedly biased toward Lightyear Wireless, the book does not mention it (expect in the bio at the end).

Don’t Fall for Home Based Business Scams

Unfortunately there are a lot home business scams out there. They generally indicate that you can earn great wealth or sizable amounts of money along with not doing very much work. And people still fall for them!

I think people are always looking for that simple way to make lots of money. There is only one way that I know of: it’s called gambling. Like the lottery. The lottery offers the dream of winning a boat load of money for not very much effort. Just takes a ticket and a kiss from lady luck.

Oh don’t get me wrong; I buy lottery tickets myself. But I buy them for fun. I know what my chances are for winning a large lotto prize and the odds are not very favorable. So it’s fun to see how many numbers I can guess.

But a true legitimate home based business will take effort and hard work. They do offer the ability to make lots of money but not unless you put in a lot of effort. And this is the part that many people just don’t seem to get. If you are willing to put in the effort, try a legit home based business like Lightyear Wireless. If you want the chance for easy money, try your luck at lotto or some casino.

5 Ways to Earn Income in Lightyear Wireless

The first questions people usually ask me when we’re talking about the Lightyear Wireless home business opportunity is : how does the pay plan work? and how do I get paid?

Well for complete details, there is a detailed explanation I send them, but here is a quick 5 point overview. Basically, we make money in Lightyear Wireless in any of 5 ways.

1) Wireless Credits - You can earn enough wireless credits by bringing in customer to offset your entire phone bill! That’s a way to get paid indirectly because it saves you money on your wireless bill.

2) Customer Acquisition Bonus (CABs) - Every time you enroll a new representative, you get a customer acquisition bonus (CAB). The CAB can be as much as $295 depending on the options they choose.

Pills, Potions, and Cell Phones

A lot of home based business opportunities are founded on nutritional products or some sort of health and wellness product. In fact it seems like an overwhelming percentage of home based business opportunities fall under the “Jungle Juice” or “Magic Pill” categories. These kinds of product based businesses generally require the customers to stay on repeat shipping (also called Autoship) for a while in order to make real money.

Now I am not going to say all these products are scams or that they’re no good. In fact, some of them are very good products. But one problem with these kinds of products is customer retention. In economic times like we are in now, those kinds of products are the first thing people think of when they start to think about what to cut back on. That bottle of juice that costs 50 or 75 dollars a month on auto-ship will likely be one of the first things to go.

The Lightyear Wireless based business opportunity is a bit different. Yes, there is a product, but it’s not some exotic juice or some miracle potion. It’s a product that everyone uses: wireless phones and service. And instead of auto-ship on some dubious products, there is a commission to be earned from monthly cellular service. And it’s already been shown that people are not cutting out their wireless service in response to the economy. If there is any shift in the wireless market, it’s to pre-paid wireless service and that’s also part of Lightyear suite of phone services. Lightyear is a great way to start a cell phone business from your home.

Can you Start a Business for $50?

Yes! I only know of one legitimate home based business you can start for less than $50 and keep running for less than $50 per month. That of course is Lightyear Wireless. People have a lot of fears about starting a business. One of the biggest fears is losing lots of money.

And that’s a valid fear. In many businesses you can invest a lot of money and as a result, lose a lot of money. Many businesses force you to operate “in the hole” for years before they become profitable. With Lightyear, you may have to operate in the hole for a few months let’s face it. $50 is a relatively small hole and usually it doesn’t take that long to make that up. Of course you want to go far beyond just making up your investment; you will want to grow that into profitability. Lightyear will allow you to go as a far was you’re willing to take it.

Blackberry Phone Scam

Make sure you get those cell phones from a reliable reseller like Lightyear Wireless rather eBay. If you see cell phones being sold on eBay, particularly the higher end smart phone like Blackberry phones, think twice. In the news we have 3 people facing criminal charges for re-selling stolen Blackberry phones on eBay.

This is a good example of why you should expect to pay a fair price for goods like smart phones. Anytime you see something like Blackberry phones being sold at ridiculously low prices, run the other way! As they say; if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Same goes for businesses. These 3 were making a business out of stealing cell phones and re-selling them, complete with fictitious business names and storage facility. If you want an honest home based cell phone business, no need to go that route. Sign up For Lightyear Wireless and you can sell the Blackberry phones without even having to stock them. No scam there; just an honest, legitimate home based business.

Lightyear Wireless ATT and Rollover Minutes

Have you seen those hilarious AT&T commercial about family plans and rollover minutes? It’s a hard core rollover minute mom who chides kids about the value of saving rollover minutes. Rollover minutes in these commercials are represented by some round orange thingie that looks like it might a minute timer or something. Anyway the kid threw out his minutes because “they were old” and mom gives him a lecture about saving money by saving roll over minutes.

Roll over minutes are minutes that were not used in the prior month. Not all carriers offer this. This arrangement is particularly useful when you have a limited number of minutes each month. In situations like these, every minute truly does count and you can hoard them to build up more minutes next month.

Lightyear Wireless has this covered with their prepaid wireless plans. The unlimited plan of course eliminates the need for rollover minutes entirely. Since it’s unlimited, you can have all the minutes you need every month. The rollover is included with the limited plans (the 300 and 200 minute per month). These plans do offer rollover minutes so that any minutes not used in a month will be rolled over to the next month.

So Lightyear Wireless has you covered for rollover. Take that AT&T.
