Skins to Save your Skin

If you have a high end phone, do you protect it with a skin? A skin is a fitted slip-over product, usually made of rubberized material, that are specifically designed for certain phones. Phone designs come and go pretty fast, so in some cases, skins that fit your phone might be hard to find. Or the phone design itself might prevent a skin from being used. An example would be the various LG phones that flip open from the side to reveal a full mini QWERTY keyboard. It would be hard to design a skin for that! Besides, LG keeps changing the deigns so it would drive the skin manufacturers crazy trying to keep up.

That aside, there some phone models that are reasonably stable so they continue to have skins made for them. Skins are usually very cheap and provide a cushion for your phone in case it’s dropped on a hard surface. Some phone plans cover damage others don’t. Here are a few skins for higher end phones sold by Lightyear - you can find the skins on various outlets. In some cases, you might even find them on eBay.

Tip for a Bluetooth Headset

The cell phone market is huge and along with that comes a hefty accessory market. A lot of times when you go to the ‘cell phone store’ to get a phone, the merchant makes the really big money on selling you accessories (that you may or may not need). One thing nice about shopping online at MyWirelessRep is there is no pressure to buy extra accessories if you don’t want them.

One of the key accessories to a cell phone is the bluetooth wireless headset. They are enormously popular since they are wireless and that means you don’t have a wire dangling out of your ear. Furthermore, they work some distance from your phone. Mine for example works up to about 50 feet and sometimes through walls in my home.

Make sure you select a bluetooth that will fit you. One thing to pay close attention to is the hanger or hook (the part that wraps around your ear). The standard bluetooths have a ‘fat’ hook and that is problematic if you wear glasses. There is only so much room behind your ear for things to hang and your glasses will compete with your bluetooth if the hanger is too thick. Even if you don’t wear prescription glasses, you may want to wear sunglasses at times and these can be problematic as well. Choose a bluetooth that has a coated thin wire hook or that just fits snugly in your ear.

If you have recommendations on a favorite brand of bluetooth or tips, post them in comments here.
