Verizon Coverage Better than AT&T Coverage?

If you decided to choose a cell phone just based on TV commercials alone, you would probably go with AT&T. That’s because they are bombarding the advertising space with those Luke Wilson commercial claiming their coverage is fine for 97% of Americans. This is in response to earlier Verizon commercials showing the Verizon coverage map (almost full) and the AT&T coverage map (with lots of holes it in).

If you look at what people are really saying (Google “at&t coverage sucks”) you will find a lot of unhappy AT&T customers. Many of them are iPhone users. And these are not problems isolated to remote areas of North Dakota. There are complaints of AT&T coverage holes in the middle of New York City as well as places in the San Francisco Bay Area that lack coverage. There is one guy who says he lives a mile from an AT&T store and can’t get a signal. Now that is irony! Ask any iPhone user how he/she feels about their AT&T service and see that they say.

You will some complaints about Verizon as you will with just about any other large company. But it seems to me that Verizon does really have AT&T coverage beat. This is one of the reasons that Lightyear Wireless aligned with Verizon and uses their backbone. They really are the largest carrier. And there are rumors that Apple is a designing an iPhone to be used with the Verizon network. I don’t know when it will be available or when it will be available for Lightyear Wireless customers but you can bet on one thing with the Wireless industry. Things will be changing frequently!

Drinks and Home Business – It’s all about Choice!

I was in the grocery store the other day and couldn’t help but ponder on the drinks aisle. Only 20 years ago, there was no drink aisle. It was maybe a quarter of one side of an aisle that offered very few choices – Coke, Pepsi, and maybe a few others. Now look at the aisle! In just about any grocery store you go into, the drinks aisle is an aisle of its own. And often it takes up both sides. What has changed and what does this have to do with Lightyear Wireless?

Well it’s all about choice isn’t it? With the introduction of energy drinks, healthy drinks, exotic juice drinks, the drink industry is suddenly alive with a multitude of choices that didn’t exist 20 or even 10 years ago. The same has happened with home business opportunities.

20 years ago, if you wanted to start your own home based business, you had limited choices. Probably Amway, HerbaLife and maybe a few others. And then you wouldn’t have even had the technology to use to market those businesses – you would have had to do it the old “door to door” way.

There is no home based business opportunity aisle in the store. But there are an even bigger plethora of choices. So many that sometimes it’s overwhelming! There are so many choices that I see some people (including people in my own Lightyear Wireless organization) hop from one thing to the next big thing. Not me, I am staying put.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by the choice, download my free book below to help you sort out and sift through those choices. It’s not about how to start a cell phone business; it just keeps it general. Although I am admittedly biased toward Lightyear Wireless, the book does not mention it (expect in the bio at the end).

Are You Happy with Your Cell Phone Plan?

Many people are not happy with their cell phone plans. Well they might like them at first, but most of the cell phone plans are two year commitments. Two years is a long time to commit to something as everyday as a cell phone. Cell phones have become such commodities that people are having trouble justifying a two year commitment to a cell phone plan. Furthermore, the economy is making many people think twice before to committing to anything like that.

This is why PrePaid Phone Plans make so much sense now. People simply want something they use as a commodity versus a commitment. Quit often in 2 year plan, people will find things wrong with their plan or some limitation they hadn’t planned for. Usually these are not discovered until after the customer has signed the agreement; much too late to do anything about. With a pre paid plan, they don’t’ have to worry and can change the phone out if there is something they don’t like about it.

So are you happy with your plan?

Pills, Potions, and Cell Phones

A lot of home based business opportunities are founded on nutritional products or some sort of health and wellness product. In fact it seems like an overwhelming percentage of home based business opportunities fall under the “Jungle Juice” or “Magic Pill” categories. These kinds of product based businesses generally require the customers to stay on repeat shipping (also called Autoship) for a while in order to make real money.

Now I am not going to say all these products are scams or that they’re no good. In fact, some of them are very good products. But one problem with these kinds of products is customer retention. In economic times like we are in now, those kinds of products are the first thing people think of when they start to think about what to cut back on. That bottle of juice that costs 50 or 75 dollars a month on auto-ship will likely be one of the first things to go.

The Lightyear Wireless based business opportunity is a bit different. Yes, there is a product, but it’s not some exotic juice or some miracle potion. It’s a product that everyone uses: wireless phones and service. And instead of auto-ship on some dubious products, there is a commission to be earned from monthly cellular service. And it’s already been shown that people are not cutting out their wireless service in response to the economy. If there is any shift in the wireless market, it’s to pre-paid wireless service and that’s also part of Lightyear suite of phone services. Lightyear is a great way to start a cell phone business from your home.

FCC Wireless Industry Probe

Late last month, the FCC launched a probe into the current state of the wireless industry. What does this mean for the industry and more important (to me and my Lightyear Team) is what will it mean for Lightyear Wireless?

This will probably good for Lightyear Wireless because the FCC is really looking out for leveling the field here. One of the main things that is driving this inquiry is handset exclusivity agreements. The biggest handset exclusivity agreement of course is the AT&T / Iphone agreement that creates an unfair advantage for AT&T over smaller carriers and even over their peers due to the extreme popularity of the device.

This inquiry will take months and the recommendation or ruling from it might take even longer. But hopefully this will open up the market a bit more so that handset availability will be more open. Lightyear Wireless has a nice selection of handsets but we could always use more. The more options for the customer there are, the better the business will be. For now, Lightyear doesn’t sell the iPhone but sells much more useful phones than the iPhone.

Lightyear Wireless ATT and Rollover Minutes

Have you seen those hilarious AT&T commercial about family plans and rollover minutes? It’s a hard core rollover minute mom who chides kids about the value of saving rollover minutes. Rollover minutes in these commercials are represented by some round orange thingie that looks like it might a minute timer or something. Anyway the kid threw out his minutes because “they were old” and mom gives him a lecture about saving money by saving roll over minutes.

Roll over minutes are minutes that were not used in the prior month. Not all carriers offer this. This arrangement is particularly useful when you have a limited number of minutes each month. In situations like these, every minute truly does count and you can hoard them to build up more minutes next month.

Lightyear Wireless has this covered with their prepaid wireless plans. The unlimited plan of course eliminates the need for rollover minutes entirely. Since it’s unlimited, you can have all the minutes you need every month. The rollover is included with the limited plans (the 300 and 200 minute per month). These plans do offer rollover minutes so that any minutes not used in a month will be rolled over to the next month.

So Lightyear Wireless has you covered for rollover. Take that AT&T.

All You Can Eat Wireless Service!

Ok no one ‘eats’ wireless, it’s just an expression: All you can Eat. Like a buffet or endless salad bar, Lightyear Wireless prepaid plans now have an unlimited plan for $59.99 per month. That’s pre paid meaning no contract or credit check. You can buy these online just using a credit or debit card.

The all you eat plan really is all you can use because the minutes are unlimited. Both Night/Weekend and Anytime minutes are unlimited so you can use use use all you want. This is unlimited domestic calls, unlimited text, and unlimited data. That’s quite a deal and I signed myself up; yeah I was my first customer.

I am tired of my old plan with only 450 minutes per month. At the time I bought it, 450 minutes seemed ok because I was not a big phone talker. But then I joined this business and of course I’m on the phone a lot more now days talking to people interested in this business. Lightyear also has a lot of conference calls that I listen to. Those combined make my 450 minutes per month pretty lame. And worse I am paying too much for it. So when it ends in November, it will go by the wayside.

I am apparently not alone here. According to Lightyear Wireless, 75% of people who purchased wireless services in the past 3 months have gone the pre paid route. The pre paid wireless offerings have proven to be a big hit. Not just Lightyear’s implementation of it (although that’s an awesome deal), but the industry in general. I suspect the 24 month contract will eventually become a thing of the past.

Lightyear Adds New Phones

Lightyear Wireless is not a company to just sit on its laurels. OK, I guess companies don’t have laurels but you know what I mean. Lightyear Wireless is always looking at the market and ways it can improved its product offering. Too often, network marketing companies fuss too much about the business opportunity side and spend little time if any building their product offering. Not so with Lightyear Wireless.

Lightyear has added 3 new phones to their offering. They now offer in addition to all those other phones, they now offer the Blackberry Pearl, Motorola SilverQ, and Palm Treo. All three of these can be had for free with a plan and a passing credit check.

A Realistic Home Based Business

A lot of time, when you research a home based business, you run into people selling unattainable dreams. Oh sure, in every home business company, there will be a few who earn big money and can make claims of living on the beach and working just a few hours a week. But most of that talk is smoke and mirrors as this article describes when he tells his experience with a certain questionable company. Warning that story is not for the faint at heart.

The best thing about Lightyear Wireless is that it’s a realistic home based business. There is the opportunity to make loads of money but you can make a decent living at it as well. I don’t live on the beach and I work far more than a few hours a week, but I make a comfortable living thanks to Lightyear Wireless. It’s all real and it’s all based on a solid product line and service that everyone needs. Not some mumbo jumbo smoke and mirror business – a real home based business.

Start a Home Based Business Today

Not that many people wake up in the morning and say “I think I’ll start a home based business today”. Most people who think about how to improve their financial situation, think in terms of getting a job. However, with unemployment reaching 10% in many places, those people are being forced to reconsider the possibility of getting a job.

10% unemployment is a lot worse than the percentage indicates. The reason for this is that with each percentage point of unemployment the more people there will be competing for fewer and fewer jobs. It’s actually an escalating effect. I don’t mean to dwell on that, but I think this is why so many people are turning to a home based business. Lots of peple only consider it and never take it any further.

One of things that stop them from ever starting is they wonder “what will I sell?” and “how will I sell it?”. Both questions answered with Lightyear Wireless
